Abstract:
To provide a display device capable of lowering power consumption and reducing an operation quantity.
An arbitrary area extracting means 6 extracts data of a specified image area (ROI) from image data of one frame to be displayed on an LCD 11. An image content decision means 5 extracts the feature quantity of the data in the specified image area extracted by the arbitrary area extracting means 6. A back light control means 4 varies the luminance of a back light 12 according to the feature quantity extracted by the image content decision means 5.
