To provide a device and a method for drying wet powder capable of drying wet powder to a water content in a target range even if a situation in a dryer at starting, the water content of the wet powder to be dried and wet powder drying characteristics are largely fluctuated.
The dryer for wet powder includes a heating part for heating wet powder while making it pass and an air blowing part for blowing heating gas to the heating part, and the heating gas is directly blown to the wet powder of the heating part to heat and dry the wet powder. The dryer further includes a first moisture measuring means for measuring the water content of the wet powder before it is supplied to the heating part and a second moisture measuring means for measuring the water content of the wet powder after it is dried by the dryer. A control device for adjusting a blowing amount of the heating gas based on the measurement value by the first moisture measuring means and the measurement value by the second moisture measuring means is provided in the dryer.
