PURPOSE: To provide a device and a method for dynamic tracking using an error flag signal.

CONSTITUTION: The position of a head in the reproducing system of D-VTR is corrected by providing a multiplexer part 70 for selecting an error flag signal according to a mode select signal, system controller 80 for outputting a control signal based on a reference value and head position driving part 90 for outputting a driving signal to the head so as to adjust the position of the head, and normal tracking is performed by executing control so that the error flag signal can be generated less than the reference value. Thus, normal tracking is enabled.
