Abstract:

PURPOSE: To miniaturize a device for forming lens, simplify its structure, save its manufacturing cost and to make its mass production possible by providing heating and pressurizing means as well as forming means.
CONSTITUTION: Glass gob 101 is housed into an upper mold 1 and lower mold 2 of the glass lens molding device using, for example, a glass material as a base. Air is supplied into a forming chamber cylinder 23 and a forming chamber cylinder rod 23a is depressed to depress a heating unit consisting of a forming chamber lower plate 17, halogen lamps 24a to 24d, a quartz tube 18, a reflection mirror 25 and a forming chamber upper plate 16, by which the forming chamber is formed. An inert gas is injected into this chamber to maintain a neutral atmosphere in the forming chamber. Electric power is supplied to the halogen lamps 24a to 24d and the glass gob 101 is irradiated with light via the quartz tube 18 and is thereby heated up to a prescribed temp. The internal temp. of the heating chamber is measured by a temp. measuring element and the heating temp. is controlled by an electric power control section. The upper mold 1 and the lower mold 2 move to a pressurization position where the air is supplied into a press cylinder 8 and the glass gob 101 is formed by the pressurizing force of a press cylinder rod 8r.
