Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the method and device which supply a texture map of multiple resolution so that the memory contents of the on-line texture map can be saved.
CONSTITUTION: A computer image generating(CIG) system is enabled to dynamically update a work memory from a bulk memory device 20 by a texture update memory means 30 and continuously generate texture information for the part of a game area to be displayed 60 by a texture processor 50. The work memory 40 is updated by inputting various factors such as the position, direction, speed, and visual field of a vehicle in the game area, and they are updated. Texture data use a scheduled amount of data or a scheduled number of cells for a 1st area with 1st texture resolution and also use the same scheduled amount of data or the same scheduled amount of data with rough texture resolution, and can be stored by a system making the 2nd area larger than the 1st area.
