To provide the device and method for manufacturing a quenched alloy foil band by which a thin ribbon-like or a flake-like hydrogen occluding alloy of a unidirectionally solidified foil band is manufactured surely and rapidly and the cost of equipment is reduced by simplifying its configuration.
This device is provided with a tundish 32 inside which molten metal 3 is held and from a nozzle 33 in the lower part of which the molten metal is continuously fallen, 1st cooling roll 35 which is freely rotatably provided in the falling position of the molten metal under the nozzle, 2nd cooling roll 36 which is oppositely arranged and freely rotatable, endless belt 37 which is laid between the cooling rolls, synchronously rotated and on which quenched alloy powder 34' is placed and conveyed and tension rolls 38 which are arranged in the lower part between the cooling rolls and with which tension is imparted to the endless belt.
