To uniformly and easily produce, by shearing, a resin film that is used for a phase difference plate of a liquid crystal display device and has a tilted optical axis.
The resin film 3 formed by flow casting or the like is pulled out of a supply roller 2; a shearing force is applied by rolls 10 and 12 having different circumferential speeds to tilt the optical axis, then the resin film is wound on a winding roller 4. For this purpose, a softener 5 is disposed. This softener 5 has the roll 10 as a coating roll, and another winding roll 11 so as to wind the resin film 3 on its outer peripheral surface, and the coating roll 10 adsorbs the solvent 6 reserved in a reservoir 7 and applies it to one surface 3a of the resin film 3 to soften it. Therefore, since the other surface 3b side of the resin film 3 serves as a hard layer for support during the shearing, while both sides become easier to align than in a soft state, and a load is hardly required, the resin film can be produced uniformly and easily.
