To more efficiently detect the position of the metal touch part of an embedded metal pipe and another metal structure than before.
Signal currents I1 and I2 different in frequency are passed through the embedded metal pipe 1 and the ground from both ends of the detection target section of the embedded metal pipe 1. In this state, a magnetic sensor 13 is reciprocated on the pedestal 14e of a sensor driver 14 in an X-direction while the pedestal 14e of the sensor driver 14 is moved in a Y-direction. The X-direction component Bx of the magnetic flux density corresponding to the signal currents I1 and I2 is extracted on the basis of the magnetic flux density detected by the magnetic sensor 13 during this movement operation and the locus of the peak position thereof is displayed. Specifically, the relationship between the peak position and the moving distance of the sensor driver 14 in the Y-direction based on a measurement start point is displayed.
