To measure the speed of a virtual object accompanying a throwing motion and a kicking motion without requiring an actual throwing or kicking of an object such as a ball by this movement data estimating device in order to measure a ball throwing speed or the speed of a kicked ball, e.g. in a ball game.
When a clock main body 11 is attached to the wrist of a dominant arm, and a ball throwing motion is performed, a maximum acceleration (x) (acceleration peak value) of the acceleration data accompanying the ball throwing motion which is detected by an acceleration sensor 12, is detected. Then, by a least square method wherein respectively detected acceletions which are obtained by ball throwing trials by a large number of persons to be tested in advance are taken as (x), and respective actually measured ball throwing speeds are taken as (y), coefficients (a), (b) and a constant (c) are obtained by a quadratic equation y=ax2+bx+c as a ball throwing speed estimating equation, and to this quadratic equation, the maximum acceleration (x) which is detected by the ball throwing motion, is substituted, and the ball throwing speed (y) is estimate-calculated, and an actual ball throwing by a user or a measurement of the speed of the thrown ball by a speed gun by a third person, is not required, and the user can measure the thrown ball speed by himself.
