Abstract:
PURPOSE: To recognize an object or an area at a high speed while using the method of radial projection simulating the human sense of initial visual sensation by controlling an image processor, computer for control and monitor for image output according to an image recognition program for recognizing the object or area in an image while using a radial frame.
CONSTITUTION: This device is composed of an ITV camera 2, transmissive light illumination box 3, personal computer 4 for control, monitor 5 for image output and image recognition processor 6 provided with an image frame memory or an arithmetic chip for image recognition and uses the method of radial projection. The method of radial projection is essentially composed of a radial frame not depending on any size or form of an object, the projection of feature of the object onto the radial frame, and the judgement of boundary of the object using that projection. By using this method, variously shaped and sized objects in the image can be exactly detected at high speed and further, the rough form and size of the detected object can be instantaneously judged.
