To provide a record reproduction device capable of making other devices on a network function as proxy for reacquiring (restoration) of contents information even though the contents information is not restored due to a breakdown of an HDD.
The record reproduction device comprises a communication section 11 for acquiring contents information C from an external device S via the network, a recording section 18 for recording the contents information C in a memory area, and a control section 30 for controlling transmission of instruction signals to a terminal device T2 on the network to reacquire the contents information from the external device as the proxy for the device, when detecting that the contents information in the recording section is not read out and determining that the contents information is not reacquired from the external device due to functional failure of the communication section or recording section.
