PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a user to re-input characteristic data for three-dimensional data when two-dimensional data and the three-dimensional data are both required by generating the three-dimensional shape data which are made to correspond to characteristic data.
CONSTITUTION: A storage device 1 consists of a two-dimensional shape memory 1a which represents an object of designing and manufacture in two dimensions, and a characteristic memory 1b and a two-dimensional/-characteristic correspondence memory 1c in which the characteristic data are recorded. The storage device 4 consists of a three dimensional shape memory 4a, a characteristic memory 4b, and a three-dimensional shape/characteristic correspondence memory 4c. An input device 2 is used to input indication data showing an indication for converting the two-dimensional shape data, recorded in the two-dimensional shape memory 1a, into three-dimensional shape data and recording them in the three-dimensional shape memory 4a. The indication data is transferred to a correspondence-output added shape three-dimensional converting means 3a, and the two-dimensional shape data are read in to generate the three- dimensional shape data and three-dimensional shape correspondence data.
