Abstract:

To provide a transfer device and a transfer method, which can suppress excess rotation and insufficient rotation of a supply roll intermittently feeding a cell material even though inertia moment of the supply roll varies.

A transfer device 100 comprises: a supply roll 110 on which a belt-like cell material W used as a material for an electrode or a separator is wounded, for intermittently feeding the cell material W by the rotation thereof; roll detecting means 240 which detects a residual amount of the cell material W remaining in the supply roll 110; and braking force imparting means 230 which applies brake force to the rotation of the supply roll 110 on the basis of the amount of the cell material W detected by the roll detecting means 240.
