Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transportation device which can have a high variability for movement kinematics in a process direction of a long material.SOLUTION: A device for transporting a metal long material comprises: chain drive units (6, 6') which are so located that a long material (3) is passed between chains (12, 12') under frictional contact and is moved; two controllable crimping units (7, 7') which is so configured that the crimping units apply crimping forces (F7, F7') to the chains (12, 12') toward the long material (3), and the crimping forces (F7, F7') are opposite to each other; and at least one controllable operation unit (8, 8') which is mechanically combined to at least one of the chain drive units (6, 6') and which can move at least one of the chain drive units (6, 6') in a longer direction of the long material (3). Further, an installation equipped with the device and a method for controlling the device are provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
