To provide a device and a method for winding a web material capable of beautifully aligning cut sections of the web material.
The web material winding device comprises a winding core feeding means for successively feeding new winding cores, a winding means for winding a fore end of the web material around a winding core, a winding means comprising an upper winding roll, a lower winding roll and a rider roll which transfer the winding core with its fore end wound therearound to the winding position and are brought into contact with the winding core to give the rotational force thereto, a rear end cutting means of the web material which cuts the web material when completing the winding to form a winding-finish free end and a winding-start free end. The rear end cutting means has air discharge nozzles arranged close to the upper winding roll and juxtaposed along the width direction of the web material. Thus, the cut sections of the web material are beautifully aligned and the cut section can be reliably specified.
