PURPOSE: To provide a partial cooling device for shell of the furnace body in a blast furnace which has a simple structure and is easily set and can efficiently cool by small quantity of the necessary cooling water.
CONSTITUTION: A porous cooling material 21 is closely fitted to the shell 1 of the furnace body in the blast furnace, and the cooling water is sprayed from a water spraying header 26 in a cooling water spraying device 22 and soaked up. Then, by utilizing latent heat caused by evaporation of the soaked cooling water, the partial high temp. part is cooled. Further, the temp. of the shell 1 of the furnace body in the blast furnace generating the partial high temp. part is detected with a temp. detector 30 to control the supplied cooling water quantity with a control unit 31. By this method, only the fitting of the porous cooling material 21 and the setting of the cooling water spraying device 22 can be constituted and it can do by so small quantity that all the sprayed cooling water is evaporated and this partial cooling device can efficiently be cooled.
