PURPOSE: To obtain a device for preventing drop of stored articles on a shelf which prevents drop of the stored articles even if the shelf oscillates due to earthquake and does not interrupt take-in and take-out work of the articles when the articles are taken in and out.
CONSTITUTION: An article drop prevention bar 33 in the horizontal direction which can move up and down along a bay face of a shelf 20 and an ascent and descent mechanism which moves the engaging member article drop prevention bar 33 which engages the article drop prevention bar 33 at a higher position than a height position of an article receive member 38 up and down between a posture which engages by the engaging member and a posture which retracts from the engaging member are provided. A plurality of article drop prevention bars 33 may be provided in accordance with the number of steps of the article receive member 38 of the shelf 20 and connected up and down by a connecting member 30. The ascent and descent mechanism may consist of a handle 23 which rotates and drives it manually and a deceleration mechanism which decelerates rotary force of the handle 23, and the article drop prevention bar 33 may be lifted and lowered via the deceleration mechanism.
