Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preventing foreign matters from entering an intake, for stopping foreign matters that may flow into the intake from a river and causing the foreign matters to flow downward in the downstream direction of the river to prevent the foreign matters from being trapped and collected at the intake, and, even if part of the device is damaged, preventing the stop of the entire device to allow water to be admitted continuously.
SOLUTION: In this device for preventing foreign matters 4 from entering an intake 3, a plurality of columnar screen units 5 formed by securing a number of discs 52 to a rotating shaft 51 at predetermined intervals are arranged so that the discs 52, 52 of the adjacent columnar screen unit 5 overlap. The plurality of columnar screen units 5 are separated into plural groups 5A, 5B, which are provided with respective independent driving mechanisms 6A, 6B.
