Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the resolution in the playback mode by employing the pre-processing and post-processing technology of a comb-line filter in the case of folding a luminance high frequency component, and then unfolding and decoding the luminance high frequency component. CONSTITUTION: A luminance signal Yc processed and outputted by a comb-like filter 16 in a pre-processing unit is given to a fold-over circuit 42 operated at a sub-Nyquist folding frequency Fc, and a resulting fold video signal is given to a low-pass filter 46 where the signal is subjected to low pass filter processing so as to limit the spectrum. In the post processing unit in succession to a path for a limited band width, a signal from the path is unfolded, and the signal is processed by a comb-line filter 68 so as to eliminate an undesired alias component in the unfolded signal and a video signal very close to the band width and content of the original video information is obtained. Thus, a playback image with high resolution is obtained.
