PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of work by providing a coupling means for coupling an illuminating means and a deflecting means and moving the deflecting means to a position retreating from an original reader with the illuminating means.

CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with the coupling means 3 for coupling the illuminating means A and the deflecting means B, which can move to the position retreating from the original reader C with the illuminating means A. In the case of placing a reflective original on an original placing part 2, the illuminating means A and the deflecting means B are easily made to retreat from a space for placing the original by integrating the illuminating means A and the deflecting means B with the aid of the coupling means 3 and moving the integrated unit. Since the illuminating means A retreats from the space for placing the original, it does not hinder the large-sized reflective original from being placed on the original placing part 2 and the original is arranged without trouble. Thus, the efficiency of work is improved.
