To provide a simply installable device for preventing ink from being scattered to the surroundings by covering a gap between the lower part of a doctor and an ink pan, in a gravure printing machine.
A cover installing member 12 equipped with a cover installing plate 1, a support arm 17 and cover guide bars 18, 19 is retained on a doctor installing table 3 in such a manner that the member 12 is mobile in the axial direction. In addition, a doctor lower cover 14 with one of its ends fixed to an ink pan 2 is allowed to pass on the cover guide bars 18, 19 and the tip of the doctor lower cover 14 is fixed to the cover installing plate 16. Further, a tension is applied to the doctor lower cover 14 by placing a weight 27 on the pendulous part of the cover 14. Thus the doctor lower cover 14 is set in such a state that it is stretched between the ink pan 2 and the cover guide bar 18, and the ink is effectively prevented from being scattered.
