To enable a deposited sliver to be moved by mechanical means, and thereby to displace the sliver within a depositing region and/or out of the depositing region without an additional container or the like, for enabling the displacement of the deposited sliver (sliver packet) from the depositing region of a machine and a substantial reduction in equipment expenditure by a simple method.
In a device provided on a spinning preparation machine, especially a drawing frame or carding machine, a sliver is discharged at the outlet thereof by a discharging device 2 and is deposited on a base 3. The discharging device and the base can be moved relative to each other. In the device, a sliver (sliver packet) 4 deposited on the base 3 can be fed to a processing machine connected to a subsequent stage.
