To safely treat foaming gas when treating foamed thermal insulator by providing a crushing means and a means for transferring crushed pieces, detecting kinds of gases in the foamed thermal insulation, and switching between transfer routes according to the kinds of the gases to change a method of treating the crushed pieces.
A scrapped refrigerator 101 is crushed by a coarse crusher 2 and a stripping crusher 3 in order. In mid-way of a crushed pieces conveyor 4, a lightweight material separating hood 7 is installed, and in the poststage of the crushed pieces conveyor 4, a heavyweight crushed pieces conveyor 5 and a metal/resin separator 6 are installed. From a mixture of the crushed pieces 102, lightweight foamed thermal insulation and a part of resin are sucked into a duct 8 by a lightweight material separating hood 7. Foamed body crushed pieces led to a pneumatic grader 9 are transferred to a foamed material separator 11. The crushing equipment is provided with a gas detector 50, and by the detection of specified gas, the means for separating and transferring the lightweight crushed pieces is stopped to exercise control so that all the crushed pieces may be transferred by the heavyweight crushed pieces conveyor 5.
