PURPOSE: To accurately reed warp yarn without causing damage to dents even in an ultrahigh-density reed by carrying out computer processing of a brightness level waveform obtained with a light source and television camera, accurately sensing the position of a reed opening and controlling the position of an under plate.
CONSTITUTION: A reed 1 is tilted at a prescribed angle and mounted on the tip of a supporting member 8 erected on a pedestal 7 and an under plate 4 provided on a moving base 6 is then subjected to advancing or retreating movement with a pulse motor 11 to reed warp yarn 19. In the process, the brightness of light passing from an infrared ray emitting diode 3 placed on one hand with the aforementioned reed 1 as the center through a reed opening is sensed with a television camera arranged on the other and noise eliminating processing is performed with a computer based on the sensed brightness level waveform. A peak position is simultaneously obtained to control movement of the aforementioned under plate 4 to the above-mentioned position. The above-mentioned under plate 4 is then advanced to pass through the reed opening and the warp yarn 19 is engaged with an engaging groove 18 formed at the tip thereof. The under plate 4 is subsequently retreated to jump the aforementioned warp yarns 19 with a yarn jumper 5 to carry out reeding at a place passing through the reed opening.
