PURPOSE: To remove stuck metal on a converter lance without generating trouble by a simple device.

CONSTITUTION: The U shape metal removal tool 11 is arranged at the position where the lance is lifted above lance hole 7 so as to surround the lance 4. An arm 1 connected to the metal removal tool 11 is supported as tiltable through a pin 2. A stretch spring 3 is connected with end part of the arm 1 and pulled upward and also the arm 1 is received with a stopper 9 and held horizontally. At the time of lifting the lance 4, the stuck metal 5 is abutted to the metal removal tool 11 and removed. When the metal 5 can not be removed, the metal removal tool 11 is tilted upward and released.
