Title:
DEVICE FOR REMOVING ZINC LAYER FROM GALVANIZED STEEL SHEET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS605900
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which eliminates the zinc layer in a weld zone and to improves weldability by pressing a flexible band formed by superposing an electrolyte-contg. layer, electrode plate and insulating layer to the part of a steel sheet from which the galvanizing layer is to be removed and removing partially said part by electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:A flexible belt-like body formed by superposing a sponge or plastic foam layer 2 impregnated with an electrolyte, a flexible electrode plate 1 and an insulating layer 3 is wound on a galvanized steel sheet 7 in tight contact with the part from which the plating is to be removed. Electricity is conducted 8 between the pipe 7 and the sheet 1 to remove the plating layer. If the pipe is welded in the part from which the plating layer is removed, intrusion of zinc into the weld layer is obviated and the satisfactory welding is accomplished.
