Title:
DEVICE FOR RETAINING HEAT OF MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58215267
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the entire charging at the same specified temp., by mounting an electromagnetic induction heater above the surface of the molten metal in a ladle and heating the molten metal in the ladle.

CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic induction heater consisting of an iron core 4 and a coil 3 is built in a ladle cover 2 and AC current is fed from an electric wire 5 to the coil 3 in the stage of casting the molten metal 6 in a ladle 1 through a tundish into the casting mold. Induction current flows in the metal 6 and the metal 6 is heated by the resistance heat thereof, so that the cooling of the molten metal to a low temp. with lapse of time is prevented. Thus the molten metal 6 in the ladle 1 is flowed out from the ladle 1 at the specified temp. from the beginning till the end, and the casting having good quality is cast with the good yield of the molten metal which is a raw material.
