PURPOSE: To transmit sound to an internal microphone in an electronic watch and secure airtightness and watertightness of the watch by forming the back cover of the watch in double construction, providing openings at the outside and inside cover members and sealing the opening of the inside cover member by a shield plate readily vibrating by the sound.
CONSTITUTION: Sound such as time signal sound or the like heard from a television, radio or the like is transmitted through an opening 12 perforated at outside cover member 9 of a back cover 7 into the cavity C between the outside and the inside cover members 9 and 11. The shield plate 14 is made of metal such as stainless steel or the like or waterproof thin film such as butyl rubber or the like and incorporates property for vibrating by the aural vibration energy such as time signal sound or the like. Accordingly, the plate 14 is vibrated by the frequency of the sound wave, which is transmitted through the opening 13 of the inside cover member 11 into the internally mounted microphone 5 to be picked up thereby. Accordingly, even if the watch body is sealed, the sound from the exterior of the watch can be effectively received by the watch.
