To continuously treat wire and plastic without grinding them and enable the materials to be efficiently recycled by providing a device for immersing waste resin-coated wire and separating the coating resin from the wire, a device for recovering the wire separated from the coating resin and the like.
Waste polyethylene-coated optical fibers (waste resin-coated wire) 1 are paid out and are continuously transferred to a deaeration chamber 3, where oxygen is removed. Further the optical fibers 1 are transferred to a heat treatment chamber 6, where a molten liquid 8 obtained by heating with a heater 7 is introduced. Then the optical fibers 1 are immersed for a specified time while running through the interior of a heat treatment tank 10. Polyethylene contained in the waste resin-coated wire 1 is melted and a part thereof is dissolved. The molten polyethylene which is separated and set afloat in the upper part of the heat treatment tank 10 overflows together with the molten liquid 8, flowing into a specific gravity separation device 16 from a drain aperture 15 and is separated from the molten liquid 8. Next, the optical fibers 18 are pulled up from the heat treatment tank 10 and are transferred to a cleaning chamber 19 to be wound up by a tension reel 21.
