PURPOSE: To control to the tension variation in the same degree with the lower limit even in case of the upper limit within a range of tension regulation by constituting a set of tension and tension variation control with respectively independent means in the titled device to regulate and move vertically a dancer roller.

CONSTITUTION: A stip 1 is passed through each roller 2W4 of a bridal, dancer and deflector and entered an annealing furnace 5. A roller 3 is connected to an air cylinder 8 via wire rope 6 and pulley 7 and moved vertically by the action of a cylinder 8. A weight 11 is connected by a wire rope via a pulley 9 so as to correspond to the own weight of the pulley 3 and a tension is given to the strip 1 by the unbalanced weight of the weight 11 and roller 3. Further a vertically moving guide 12 of the weight 11 is made to be slanted obliquely (angle θ) centering around the center of the pulley 9. The tension of the strip 1 is set up by changing the inclination θ of the guide 12 and the control of tension variation of the strip 1 inside the furnace 5 can be performed with the action of the cylinder 8.
