PURPOSE: To provide a device for testing intensity of a linear material, which can set the largeness and the applying time of tension freely and easily.

CONSTITUTION: A movable pulley 4 among plural fixed pulleys 3 and the movable pulley 4 for guiding the traveling of a linear material 1, which is wound around of them, is supported on a movable support plate 5 freely to be rotated so as to come close and separate to/from the fixed pulleys 3, and this movable pulley support plate 5 is elevated by a feed screw shaft 7. A driving motor 8 for rotating the feed screw shaft 7 and a weight moving arm device 9 for adjusting the braking torque of a tension applying pulley 6 are controlled simultaneously and automatically by the command from a central control device 10.
