To provide a device to detect and determine if a patient is in or out of the electrically-operated lifting bed without the need for any load measuring part such as a strain gauge or the like.
The in- or out-of-bed detecting device 1 includes: a motor driving part 10 to supply electric current to an electrically-driven motor M for operating a linear type actuator to lift the bed floor of the electrically-operated lifting bed; and an in- or out-of-bed detector 20. The in- or out-of-bed detector 20 supplies the motor driving part 10 with a command signal to supply electric current to the electrically-driven motor M for a short time of 30-150 msec. The in- or out-of-bed detector 20 analyzes the value of electric current supplied to the electrically-driven motor M, and based on the analysis results, determines if the patient is in or out of the electrically-operated lifting bed. This analysis employs the ratio of the maximum electric current to the integrated electric current value.
