To provide a device used as both emergency burner and light at a disaster, camping and the like, which can be refilled with a wax and last for many hours of use.

A device for emergency use as a light and a burner comprises a can body 1 having a can bottom portion 3; a disc 5 disposed in the inner bottom of the can body 1; a support base 6 provided at the center of the disc 5 and having a recess for receiving the lower end of a metal holder 7 having wax holding cavity provided therearound; a ceramic 8 provided in the holder 7 and having a through-hole extending vertically along the axis thereof; a core inserted in the through-hole and made of a heat conductor 9 of a copper wire; a wax 4 provided around the core; and a cover 2 provided on the can body 1 and having a handle for opening.
