Abstract:
PURPOSE:To generate an alarm when the wear amount of a brake drum reaches predetermined value by providing a space with bottom passed at a brake drum when the wear of the slide surface becomes excessive and inserting a sound producing unit in the space. CONSTITUTION:A sound producing unit containing chamber 13 having a space of sufficient dimensions to allow the producing unit 12 to roll thereon is formed at the outer periphery 14 of a brake drum 7. When the slide surface 15 of the brake drum 7 wears excessively so that the bottom 16 wears to form an opening 24 through the inside of the drum 7, the leg 20 of the supporting piece 19 of the unit 12 is inserted through the opening 24 into the inside of the drum 7 to cause it to be worn or damaged. Thus, the piece 19 of the unit 12 and suppressing action of a plug 23 are lost to cause the unit 12 to be freely rolled in the chamber 13 to thereby produce sound when an automobile runs to notify the malfunction for a driver.
