To use a filter element by regenerating it number of times by immersing the filter element from above in a washing liquid in a washing tank after attached to an attaching means and raising/lowering it in the washing liquid while rotating it to surely remove stains such as tar deposited to it.
When the filter element 14 is washed, at first the element 14 is fixed on a rotating/attaching shaft 15 and next a rotating motor is driven to rotate a horizontally rotating boom 17 so that the element 14 is positioned just above the dewatering tank 39 and then the element 14 is immersed in a dewatering tank 39 by driving a raising/lowering cylinder 18. While the element 14 integrated with the rotating/attaching shaft 15 is rotated at high speed by driving the rotating motor, the element 14 is reciprocated vertically by driving the cylinder 18. Coarse rubbish such as sand and dust deposited to the element 14 are removed by driving further a vibrating motor 15a, if necessary, to vibrate the element 14.
