Abstract:

To provide a diabetes treatment/prophylactic agent etc. which is effective for treating and preventing diabetes, does not induce hypoglycemia, is safely used as a therapeutic agent and for therapy, exerts an efficacy higher than those of conventional agents and uses active ingredients discovered from a natural vegetable food.

The diabetes treatment/prophylactic agent comprises a soyasaponin-containing composition containing soyasaponins as active ingredients for lowering the blood glucose level. Hyperglycemic condition is prevented or improved by lowering the blood glucose level by orally taking soyasaponins or the soyasaponins-containing composition. A health food for preventing hyperglycemic condition is prepared by compounding soyasaponins or the soyasaponins-containing composition.
