PURPOSE: To properly use a data base in the inference process and to attain fine diagnosis and guidance by providing an external data base mechanism used for the inference processing.
CONSTITUTION: An diagnostic expert system is provided with an external data base mechanism 40 used for the inference processing. This data base mechanism 40 is constituted of plural data bases where various individual information related to individual diagnostic objects can be stored, and an inference mechanism stores inputted data and data generated in the inference process in corresponding data bases and takes out data required for inference from the corresponding data base. Thus, data related to a maximum number of concrete examples is used to attain finer diagnosis and guidance.
