Abstract:

To provide a series of compositions, methods, kits, articles and species mainly associated with the diagnosis and/or treatment of cell proliferation, specifically cancer.

The figure shows a MUC1 receptor. Cell proliferation associated with aberrant expression of MUC1 is particularly focused upon. An important aspect of mechanisms associated with MUC1 cell proliferation and tumorigenesis is clarified. In addition, a new molecular target for drug screening assay is provided. Compounds that inhibit MUC1-independent tumorigenesis are identified using this assay. Accordingly, early diagnostic assay becomes possible.
