PURPOSE: The titled diagnosticum, having extremely high safety, improved solubil ity and stability of Congo Red and capable of safely making an accurate test of reticuloendothelial system (RES) function and prepared by adding an appropri ate amount of urea as a solubilizing agent into a Congo Red solution.
CONSTITUTION: Congo Red is reduced to powder, precisely weighed and put into a measuring flash. A specified amount of 50% aqueous urea solution and an appropriate amount of wafer for injection are added thereinto and stirred in a hot water bath. After confirming dissolution, the resultant solution is allowed to stand at room temperature to cool and diluted with the wafer for injection. Then this solution is fed under aseptic condition into a 5-cc ampul through a membrane filter and sealed by fusion to obtain the aimed diagnosticum.
EFFECT: This diagnosticum has a high concentration of Congo Red because of its solubility increased by addition of urea with extreme safely and allows to reduce an amount of liquid to be administrated, whereby safety of a subject having hepatorenal diseases can be increased and a mental load of the subject can be decreased, and has stability even in preservation for a long period.
