Abstract:

PURPOSE: To avoid mis-detection of random data as synchronization data at a receiver side by taking notice of a level of random data not less than a pedestal level.
CONSTITUTION: When data recorded on a tape 1 are random data, inverted data of MSB are added to 9-th bit and composite synchronization data are added to a 10-th bit. and the MSB is set to '1' in 8-bit random data reproduced by a reproduction circuit 3 at an encoder 7 and the resulting data are outputted to a selector 9. The selector 9 receives blanking data from a blanking data generator 8 and selects the blanking data based on a signal (b) and provides an output of the data. Thus, encoded random data are outputted from the selector 9 for a period other than the horizontal blanking line in which random data in 10-bits are outputted from the blanking period to provide composite random data. Thus, a selector 10 provides an output of the composite random data encoded in 10-bits to the line 11.
