To provide a dial plate for an instrument having an appearance with enhanced solidity, and its manufacturing method.

To each planar part 21, 23, 26, each inclined plane part 22, 24 and a vertical plane part 25, coloring treatment is applied so that the lightness of each colored layer applied onto each mutually-adjacent plane is different, and the boundary between both colored layers of each adjacent plane agrees with the line of intersection between both planes. Hereby, this dial plate 2 having an appearance with sharpened view of a boundary of each plane and enhanced solidity can be acquired. Each colored layer is applied onto each inclined plane part 22, 24 and the vertical plane part 25 by digital printing after fabrication of the dial plate 2. The dial plate 2 having the appearance with enhanced solidity can be manufactured easily, while heightening shape/position accuracy of each colored layer and suppressing cost increase, by this manufacturing method.
