PURPOSE: To obtain a membrane small in the formation of thrombus, showing heparin adsorption and reusable by using a dialysis membrane for hemodialysis which is composed of a polysaccharide ether having a specified structural formula.
CONSTITUTION: In a dialysis membrane for hemodialysis in the form of a sheet film, tubular film or the like composed of a polysaccharide other, the polysaccharide ether has a structure represented by formula I [where, cell is the skeleton of an unmodified cellulose molecule or of a chitin molecule, each with no hydroxyl groups, (s) is equal to 3 for the unmodified cellulose molecule and 2 for the chitin molecule, and (x) is the degree of etherification, which is in the range from 0.001 to 0.079, and R is an optionally substituted 3 to 25C alkyl, alkenyl or the like and/or a radical of a 3 to 25C heterocyclic compd., in which the carbon chain may be interrupted by oxygen or sulfur atoms]. This membrane has an excellent biocompatibility and is reusable.
