Title:
DIAMOND-CONTAINING COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000169929
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a diamond-contg. ceramics material excellent in wear resistance and strength.

In a diamond-contg. composite material in which diamond particles are integrated with a matrix, the content of the diamond particles is 3 to 50 vol.%, and the matrix is composed of at least one kind of ceramics selected from the carbides, nitrides, oxides and borides of the group IVa, Va and VIa elements in the Periodic Table and their solid solutions. Moreover, it is produced by electric pressure sintering in the temp. range of 1000 to 1800°C under the condition in which a liq. phase is formed in the matrix. The ceramics contains crystal particles in which the aspect ratio reaches ≥2 in the sintering stage by ≥5 vol.%.
