Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die capable of highly precisely drawing a wire rod into a deformed wire, and a method for drawing a wire rod using the die.
SOLUTION: The die has a die body made of a sintered diamond. A bearing section has a front face of a special shape and a corner with a radius of 0.02 mm or more and 0.6 mm or less. Other portions are straight. The body of the die is further provided with a support ring of cemented carbide on the outer circumference. The mean size of the diamond particles composing the sintered diamond is 0.5 μm or more and 6 μm or less. In the method for drawing the wire rod, two-stage or three-stage dies are arranged in series. A copper or stainless steel wire rod of which the section is circular is drawn with the diamond die which is arranged in the final stage of those dies. Alternatively, the copper or stainless steel wire rod of a round section formed by means of reduction rolls is drawn by the diamond die.
