To improve precision of e shape forming surface of a grinding wheel by a method wherein a distance (y) between abrasive grains arranged in the direction orthogonal to the direction having a specified inclination angle or the direction deviated in a range of a specified angle is increased to a value higher than a distance (x) between abrasive grains arranged in the direction having a specified inclination angle with a shape forming direction.
In an A-zone having a given length A in the peripheral direction, diamond abrasive grains 1 are arranged so that a given distance (x) is provided in the direction (an X-direction) having an inclination angle (a cross angle θ) of a given value, being 45° or less, with a shape forming direction. In this state, an X-direction is the direction different in the direction in a 90° arc, namely, in the Y-direction being the direction orthogonal to the X-direction, the diamond abrasive grains 1 are arranged at intervals of a distance (y). In this case, a relation formula of x<y is established. In this constitution, regarding the Y- direction, the direction deviated by a given angle in a range of ±α from the direction orthogonal to the X-direction may be allowed.
