Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare a diamond film having excellent adhesive strength to a substrate by allowing a diamond film to grow on a porous high melting point metal layer adhered to the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 15 is coated with a thick film paste comprising the powder of a high melting point metal having excellent adhesivity to the substrate 15. The substrate is calcined in an inert gas atmosphere to form a porous high melting point metal layer 16 thereon. The substrate 15 is mounted in a DC plasma jet gaseous phase growth device. Hydrogen gas containing a carbon compound gas is fed into the device to form a diamond film 17 on the metal layer 16.
