Title:
DIAMOND TOOL AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2550269
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the undulation of a cutting edge-ridge part in a flank relief to improve the machined surface roughness by forming a cutting ridge part, namely, a boundary line between the flank relief and a rake face so that its shape projected in the cutting direction is not undulate, but its shape projected in the direction perpendicular to the cutting direction is undulate.
CONSTITUTION: With the diamond tool, a diamond chip 1 is formed by a flank relief A polished into a state where no trace of polishing is shown, a rake face B, and a boundary line between the flank relief A and the rake face B, namely, a cutting ridge part C, the shape of which is not undulate when it is projected in the cutting direction, but undulate when it is projected in the direction perpendicular to the cutting direction. The diamond chip 1 is held by a shunk 2. Thus, the undulation of the cutting edge-ridge part is eliminated to improve the machined surface roughness.
