To provide a diaphragm control apparatus of an interchangeable lens camera which performs precise stepping-drive control even if a stepping motor is used as a driving source for the diaphragm control apparatus.
The stepping motor to move a slider member that performs drive control of a diaphragm device of a photographic lens is driven stepwise by repeatedly energizing excitation patterns in a prescribed order, in a direction where the slider member is away from an origin position, and then driven stepwise by repeatedly energizing the excitation patterns in the reverse order, in a returning direction where the slider member approaches to the origin position. The initial excitation pattern, when the stepping motor is started from the origin position is set, on the basis of the excitation pattern, when detecting that it approaches thereto by more than the moving distance for one step from the origin position.
