To enable to stop pumping operation as quickly as possible when the diaphragm is damaged and easily recovering the pump only with the replacement of the diaphragm, by placing below the driver a magnetic material that adsorbs and retains the permanent magnet of the driver which falls off due to the damage of the diaphragm.
A driver 2 connects and fixes between the center portions of a pair of diaphragms 1 provided spread, opposite to each other, along the axial line in the lateral direction. Mutual electromagnetic action between a permanent magnet 3 fixed on the driver 2 and electromagnets 4 placed on both sides of the driver 2 causes the driver 2 to reciprocally move in the axial direction in accordance with the power frequency to make the pumping operation. In this air pump, a magnetic material 5 such as the iron plate is placed below the driver 2 to adsorb and retain the permanent magnet 3 of the driver 2 which falls off when the diaphragm 1 is damaged. By retaining the permanent magnet 3 of the driver 2 that falls off when the diaphragm is damaged with the adsorbing force with the magnetic material 5, the vibration of the driver 2 is stopped compulsorily.
