NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I {R1 is (CH2)mOR3 [R3 is H, CH2CH(OH)CH2OCH2CH3, CH2CH(OAC)CH2OCH2CH3 or CH2OCH2CH2 OCH3; m is 1W4], CH(CH3)CH2OCR3, CH=CHCOOR4 (R4 is H or lower alkyl), (CH2)nCOOR4 (n=1W3), etc.; R4 is 4-lower alkylpiperazino group, 4-lower alkylhomopiperazino group or Y-(CH2)lNR5R6 (Y is HN, O, etc.; R5 and R6 are lower alkyl; l is 5W6)}.

EXAMPLE: 11-( 2-Dimethylaminoethyl )thio-6, 11-dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin acetic acid methyl ester.

USE: Useful as a drug having antiallergic action.

PREPARATION: For example, a compound shown by the formula II is reacted with thionyl chloride and reacted with a compound shown by the formula III to give a compound shown by the formula Ia among compounds shown by the formula I.
